Abstract:
This paper takes Getou Village (a traditional village in Qiandongnan, China) and Hanok Village in Jeonju, South Korea as research subjects. By integrating Space Syntax theory with cultural space identification techniques, it employs quantitative analysis using DepthMap software alongside qualitative research through field investigations to systematically analyze the cultural space characteristics and vitality mechanisms of both villages. Through organizing and categorizing the cultural space units of the two villages, the study reveals their differentiated development models, examines their development trajectories under different institutional frameworks, and summarizes their successful experiences and applicable patterns. These findings are then adapted and applied to the conservation and development of traditional villages in China, providing actionable pathways and theoretical references for the dynamic preservation and high-quality development of traditional villages outlined in China's 15th Five-Year Plan. Ultimately, this research aims to position traditional Chinese villages as core carriers for the inheritance of cultural characteristics in livable, productive, and harmonious rural areas.
