Abstract:
With the gradual advancement of China's rural revitalization strategy and the increasingly prominent trend of rural population aging, rural planning and facility transformation aimed at creating an‘elderlyfriendly’environment have emerged as essential tasks in rural development and construction endeavors. Rural construction evaluation, with a focus on the needs of the elderly, is a crucial preliminary step in this process. Based on the concept of‘elderly-friendliness’, this paper takes Pubei County in Qinzhou City, Xingye County in Yulin City, Lingyun County in Baise City, and Gongcheng Yao Autonomous County in Guilin City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, as the research subjects. It collects and sorts out survey data from 12 townships and 40 villages, and combines these with the needs of the elderly population in the villages. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is employed to construct an evaluation system comprising 31 factor indicators across four dimensions: physiological needs, psychological needs, social needs, and economic needs. The results indicate that among the four dimensions of the evaluation system, the social and psychological needs of the rural elderly are the dominant factors. In the evaluation of the four sample counties in Guangxi, Xingye County achieved the highest comprehensive score. Therefore, this paper proposes that in the process of steadily advancing rural revitalization, targeted optimization strategies such as facility upgrades, village appearance optimization, and relevant policy guidance should be implemented to meet the needs of the rural elderly population and build‘elderly-friendly’villages.
