Abstract:
Jiaozhuanghu Village in Beijing completely preserves the tunnel warfare site, a national cultural protection unit, along with its above-ground appendages. As the carrier of this site, the entire village not only inherits the rich red history and culture but also embodies the unique characteristics of villages in the suburbs of Beijing. In the process of rural revitalization and modernization, the contradiction between village protection and development is prominent. Located in the economically developed suburbs of Beijing, Jiaozhuanghu Village, with its heterogeneity distinct from that of cities, is also affected by villagers' spontaneous efforts to improve living conditions. For the protection and development of this village, more specific theories and guidance are required. This paper introduces the concept of ‘pacemaker' and its functioning principle as a guiding methodology and theoretical exploration for village protection. By studying relevant theories of village protection and combining the current situation and essence of Jiaozhuanghu Village's historical and cultural value, this paper aims to guide the inheritance and sublimation of the village's overall cultural value.
