Abstract: Based on the investigation and design practice of native houses in the oasis area of Southern Xinjiang, this paper analyzed the problems in the process of building residential houses in southern Xinjiang. On the basis of summarizing the traditional construction experience and regional characteristics of local dwellings, it tried to establish the Southern Xinjiang characteristic native houses update mode through extending and promoting the wisdom of construction, the integration and development of new and old technologies, the protection and inheritance of characteristic culture, the expansion and integration of residential functions, and the independent update under overall control, in order to provide a reference for the design of rural residence in southern Xinjiang and even the entire desertification area.
