Abstract: Beautiful villages' construction has been a significant local task in Beijing. However, this task is still being challenged by many problems, such as ecosystem degradation and biodiversity reduction. In order to solve these problems, promoting rural sustainability is especially important. This article aims to present valuable information and experience on village sustainable development based on studying European rural development policies, by the way of analyzing sustainable development and public participation in German state of BerlinBrandenburg and also the ecological protection and agricultural zone management of Utrecht in Netherlands. By summing up the experiences of developed countries in Europe in rural planning and sustainable development, it hopes to provide new ideas for the construction of beautiful villages in Beijing.
