Abstract: The theory of vernacular landscape is an effective method to study the overall characteristics, elements and characteristic shaping of urban style. This paper regards the urban style as a kind of local landscape. Firstly, it discusses the concept, connotation and interrelationship of urban style and local landscape. Secondly, taking Kurdning Town, Gongliu County, Yili Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region as an example, it analyzes the vernacular landscape from three aspects of nature, settlement and humanity. Finally from the three aspects of the local landscape, it puts forward the corresponding characteristics of the regional style shaping strategies, in order to provide information and planning ideas for the cultivation of vernacular landscape and the shaping of the characteristics of Kurdish town, and provide reference for the planning of small towns.
