Abstract: Based on the cognition of American land and spatial planning system, this paper takes the Cook County, Illinois as the research object to learn the experience and enlightenment of township land and spatial planning. It analyzes the main contents of the county-level spatial planning system and the township master plan as well as their compilation and operation mechanism. At last, the paper puts forward four enlightenments that should be learned in the compilation of China's township territorial spatial planning: taking the people as the center and improving the living environment in villages and towns; the content of the compilation should reflect the needs of townships, develop the township characteristics; strengthens the legality of land and spatial planning documents, and forms the technical guidance document; strengthens the information management of township territorial spatial planning, simplifies and promotes the sharing and interaction information.
