Abstract:
Urban function level (UFL) has been a hot topic of county-scale and regional economic development. Taking the county of Anji County as a case, the research establishes a comprehensive urban function level evaluation index system, assesses the UFL of Anji county using principal component analysis, identifies the advantages and disadvantages that affect the UFL, and puts forward policy suggestions to promote the economic and spatial development of Anji County. The results show the following conclusions. First, service capability, economic level, and rural development level are three major components of UFL. Second, the UFL of Anji is relatively low, and some obstacles related to weak economic radiation capacity, low performance in scientific & technological innovation, and low level of regional cooperation have been identified. Lastly, in order to upgrade the UFL of Anji, it is of great significance to effectively promote urban-rural integration, to optimize multi-level spatial planning, to promote industrial development, which will help to strengthen the intercity collaborations.
